Halloween Pumpkin Cream Recipe

Ingredients

Preparing a pumpkin cream is very simple. If you want it to come out delicious, these are the ingredients you should look for:

  • 1 kilo of pumpkin
  • 200 grams of mushrooms (not mandatory)
  • 3 medium onions
  • 50 ml. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 750 ml of vegetable broth (better if it is homemade)
  • 200 ml of milk
  • 1 medium tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
  • 5 grams of mint sprigs
  • Heavy cream (for garnish)
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Preparation of the Halloween pumpkin cream

Now we are going to proceed to explain how a pumpkin cream for Halloween is made. The manufacturing process is actually very similar to making a normal cream, only that you must decorate it.

  1. Start by washing the pumpkin a bit , and then proceed to cut it into small pieces that are not too large. The onion , after having peeled and washed it, chop it into as small pieces as possible (we recommend the use of a grinder). Cook the onion with 25 ml of olive oil , stirring from time to time, until you see that the onion is transparent.
  2. Seeing that the onion is already transparent, it is time to add the pumpkin. Saute a little until it’s golden a little. Pour all the broth, add salt and pepper to your liking (with a ¼ dessert spoon it should be enough, but if you like it stronger, add a little more) and cook over low heat for a quarter of an hour . However, the time will vary based on the size of the pumpkin pieces. Until it is cooked, it must be on the fire.
  3. While the saucepan is cooking, proceed to wash the mushrooms well , to remove any remaining dirt. Then, with a damp cloth, clean and dry them. Cut them into small pieces to sauté them in a pan with the remaining 25 ml of olive oil. Season a little and cook until well done. (As we told you before, this is optional. If you don’t like mushrooms, skip this step.)
  4. With the pumpkin already well cooked, pass all the contents of the pot to the blender and proceed to beat. If you want the cream to contain mushrooms, but you don’t like the texture very much, add them too. Blend everything for a few minutes and then sift through the food mill.
  5. Next , pour the milk and proceed to stir (if you don’t have a masher, do it all in the blender), stirring everything well for a few minutes.
  6. While the cream rests a bit, heat a small skillet on the stove, over medium heat, and heat the tablespoon of olive oil. In this pan you are going to toast, just a little, the pumpkin seeds.
  7. When it is time to serve, it is when you have to assemble to have the Halloween pumpkin creation ready. To do this, put the cream distributed in several bowls, with some pumpkin seeds. Next, put the thick cream inside a kitchen bottle (or pastry bag) and draw the Halloween image you want on the pumpkin cream . For a spider web, for example, it is enough to make three concentric circles, and to finish giving it shape, move it with a skewer to make radii from the inside out.
