Preparation of the ghost cookies
You will see how, following our recipe, making delicious ghost cookies is something very simple. Even your kids will want to have a hand in making this Halloween dessert!
- Since the butter needs to be at room temperature, leave it out for a while to temper. Then, you put it in a bowl together with the eggs, the white sugar and the vanilla sugar . Mix with the help of electric rods, until a creamy mixture is formed.
- In a large bowl sift the flour . Make a volcano in the center, inside which you will place the yeast , cocoa powder and a pinch of salt . Stir well with a spoon so that everything is well integrated.
- Next, add the mixture that you have made previously and start beating . A kind of dough will form in a few minutes. You must work this dough with your hands , with a little flour so that it does not stick to you. Make a ball, cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for an hour.
- The hour passes, so put the oven on now, at 200º C , and don’t forget to line the trays with baking paper to prevent the cookies from sticking.
- Flour the part of the countertop that you are going to use to work and put the dough there. With the help of the roller, make a flat surface, stretching the dough several times . Now you have to remove your ghosts from the dough, giving them shape with a mold (there are some very funny ones) or with the help of a knife.
- As you prepare the cookies, place them on the baking tray, leaving a little space between them. Each batch of cookies that you place must be baked for 10 minutes at 180º.
- While the icing is being made to cover the cookies, what you are going to do is mix the icing sugar together with the egg white and a few drops of lemon juice (three should be enough). Beat with the mixer for a few minutes, so that the mixture thickens.
- When removing the cookies, and while they are still hot, paint them with this whitish mixture , covering it completely and your little ghosts will be almost ready.
- A ghost cookie isn’t scary at all if it doesn’t have an expression, right? So let’s give it one! To do this , heat the remaining butter (40 grams) together with the 50 grams of dark chocolate . Make a chocolate cream that is a bit thick.
- With the help of a pastry bag, or if you have a lot of skill in the way you prefer, make the eyes and the mouth of the ghost . And now your ghost cookies will be ready!
