Halloween Fried Egg Recipe

The following recipe that we are going to teach you serves as breakfast for Halloween, especially for the smallest of the house. However, with a little skill and imagination, it can be a starter, an appetizer or a complement to one of your dishes… it’s about the Halloween fried egg!

Ingredients

As you may have already deduced, the main ingredient of this delicacy is the fried egg. Now, you have several options when it comes to preparing it to turn it into a totally terrifying Halloween dish. We are going to explain three options:

For a skeleton fried egg:

  • 1 fried egg per person
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil

For a spider fried egg

  • 1 fried egg per person
  • 1 black olive per fried egg
  • Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For a skull fried egg

  • 2 eggs per person
  • ½ black olive
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Preparation of the skeleton fried egg

We are going to start with the first one, which, although it seems simple, actually has its little trick, especially knowing how to handle the egg yolk well.

  1. Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan, and when it is hot , break the egg and pour, only, for the moment, what is the white , trying to keep the yolk in one half of the egg.
  2. When the white begins to take on color, add the yolk , only on top of the white, so that it stays well positioned there. Let the fried egg finish cooking and carefully remove it.
  3. Already on the plate, make the eyes with a little ketchup . For the mouth, you have two options: either you use ketchup or with a knife you make very shallow incisions to make it.
  4. The body part is easier, because you only need to use a little mustard to make it , giving it the shape of the body in the white part of the white… and woalá! You have a skeleton fried egg for Halloween!

Spider fried egg preparation

This one is a little easier than the previous one, since you don’t have to work as much with the yolk. This does not mean that you do not have to have a bit of skill.

  1. After heating the olive oil in the pan, pour the egg, trying to get the yolk right in the center. Fry the egg well until done and remove it to a plate.
  2. Next, use the ketchup to make the legs of the spider, while you cut the half olive into two pieces and place it on the yolk , to give the impression that it has eyes.
  3. As you can see, it is not very complicated. Now, if you want to work on it a bit more, you could cut several black olives into very small strips to make the legs.

Although it can be prepared without the need for a mold, if you are not very skilled at making fried eggs, we recommend that you make one using a mold.

  1. Pour the white of the two eggs to fill the mold , including the area around the eyes of the skull a little. Then, each yolk of each egg will go right in the eye area.
  2. Sauté well, for about 4 minutes with the lid on . In this way both the yolk and the white will be better.
  3. In another pan , fry a couple of slices of smoked bacon , with very little oil, until they are well golden.
  4. Place the skull on the plate, while the bacon strips are placed in the shape of a cross under the skull… so it will look like a pirate flag!
